What You'll Build As a Senior Developer, you will be a core contributor to the Edge Integration Cell (EIC), a strategic runtime within SAP Integration Suite. EIC extends enterprise integration capabilities to edge, sovereign, private, and on-premises environments through a secure, lightweight, and highly efficient architecture. EIC operates in environments where connectivity to cloud services is limited, intermittent, or unavailable for extended periods. Engineers on this team build platform capabilities that must function reliably under these constraints - spanning security, lifecycle management, operability, and resilient message processing. You will contribute to the future of enterprise integration by designing, implementing, and testing secure, scalable, and resilient platform capabilities.   In this role, you will:

• Design, implement, and test scalable, secure, highly available, and resilient capabilities for the Edge Integration Cell, primarily using Java while applying Go and other suitable technologies where appropriate.
• Build platform capabilities that function reliably without continuous cloud connectivity.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering and intelligent automation as daily practices to accelerate delivery and improve software quality.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical challenges across distributed systems, Kubernetes-based platforms, and integration runtimes, particularly in environments where remote access and cloud-managed tooling are unavailable.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, UX, architects, and engineering teams within an Empowered Product Team (EPT) to deliver customer-centric outcomes.
• Translate technical specifications and non-functional requirements into well-structured, production-ready implementations.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, design reviews, and technology discussions that shape the platform's direction.
• Take ownership of features and components from implementation through delivery, ensuring quality, test coverage, and operational readiness.
• Support and mentor fellow developers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.

  What You Bring You are an experienced software engineer with solid expertise in cloud technologies, software engineering, and distributed systems. You have a track record of delivering high-quality software in complex platform or middleware environments, with strong skills in implementation, testing, debugging, and operational support. You take ownership of your work, care about code quality and maintainability, and actively contribute to technical discussions and design decisions. You are comfortable working in environments with constrained resources and limited or no external connectivity. You thrive in collaborative teams and embrace continuous learning. You combine solid technical judgment with a hands-on builder mentality - you deliver working software, not just prototypes.   Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent practical experience.
• Several years of experience in software engineering, cloud technologies, and distributed systems, with a track record of delivering production-quality software.
• Strong software development experience with Java as a primary programming language. Experience with Go is an advantage. Ability and willingness to work with different programming languages as required.
• Experience building and operating software across cloud-managed, edge, or on-premises environments, using containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
• Practical use of AI-assisted engineering tools and AI-powered developer workflows to improve delivery speed and code quality.
• Good understanding of software architecture, API design, concurrency, performance, testing, and maintainable software development practices.
• Experience with deployment automation, observability, operational tooling, or platform lifecycle management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across agile and globally distributed teams. Willingness to present technical concepts and speak up in design discussions.
• An ownership-driven mindset with a commitment to quality and delivering reliable software under time pressure.
• Very good written and spoken English.
