As an Expert Agentic Platform Engineer, you will act as a technical authority for complex and strategically important engineering topics. You will combine deep hands-on software engineering with broad technical leadership, tackling ambiguous problems, shaping architecture, and driving solutions that span multiple systems and engineering teams.  

Depending on your expertise, you may shape cloud services, AI-enabled platforms, distributed systems, or European open-source initiatives such as ApeiroRA and NeoNephos.  

What You’ll Do  

• Design and build scalable cloud-native applications, services, APIs, and distributed systems, taking technical ownership from problem definition through architecture, implementation, and production operation.  

• Shape architecture and long-term technical direction across multiple components and strategic engineering areas, defining reusable patterns and standards that scale beyond a single project or team.  

• Lead technical initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders, including support for developing an agentic harness and sandboxing environment.  

• Drive engineering excellence in software architecture, automation, CI/CD, observability, security, testing, and operational readiness.  

• Act as a technical sparring partner for senior engineers, architects, and engineering leadership, mentoring engineers through guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.  

• Contribute to open-source projects (e.g. ApeiroRA, NeoNephos) and the evolution of SAP's cloud platform capabilities.  

What You Bring  

• Extensive experience in designing, building, and operating complex production-grade software and distributed systems.  

• Extensive experience designing, building, and operating complex production-grade distributed systems using Python, Go, or comparable languages, with hands-on expertise in Kubernetes, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.  

• Strong track record in CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps, observability (Prometheus, Grafana), and production engineering with a focus on security and operational readiness.  

• Experience using AI tools for engineering tasks (coding, troubleshooting, automation) with the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs; practical understanding of LLM optimization and ability to design and operate MCP servers.  

• Proven ability to influence technical direction, shape architectural decisions, and define reusable engineering practices beyond your immediate area of responsibility.  

• Excellent communication skills in English, with experience leading technical discussions across distributed international teams; strong mentoring and knowledge-sharing capabilities.  

• Self-motivated ownership mindset, comfortable solving complex problems and making sound technical decisions in ambiguous or evolving environments.
