We are looking for a Technical Architect to join our Architecture & Developer Platforms team at MC Digital, and we believe we’ll be #betterwithyou!

At MC, technology is everywhere: in our stores, e-commerce platforms, supply chain, and the apps used by millions of people every day. Behind all this, multiple development teams build in parallel and make technical decisions continuously. Your role will be to ensure they all build on the same technical foundations: robust, secure, and easy to use.

Within the central Architecture team, you will define the corporate Tech Stack and decide which technologies enter (and leave) our ecosystem. You will design the reference architectures used by teams every day and transform best practices into automated guardrails and ready-to-use templates, making the right path the easiest one. This is not ivory-tower architecture: your work will live in the code, pipelines, and platform that support the entire MC Digital ecosystem, including how teams build software with AI.

We are counting on you to…

• Define and evolve the corporate Tech Stack and Tech Radar, managing the lifecycle of technologies, frameworks, and tools (adopt, trial, hold, retire)

• Assess new technologies through proof of concepts and benchmarks, documenting decisions in ADRs

• Create, publish, and maintain technical guidelines, reference architectures (Cloud-Native, event-driven, Mobile, etc.), and best practices for development teams

• Build and maintain templates and reference components (service templates, Helm charts, pipelines) that embody standards and accelerate teams

• Ensure guidelines are followed, whenever possible through automated mechanisms (policy-as-code, fitness functions, CI/CD quality gates)

• Collaborate with Platform Engineering on the evolution of core technology foundations: Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD, and developer experience

• Support teams and Technical Solution Leads in complex technical decisions involving integrations, performance, scalability, resilience, and security

• Conduct technical design reviews, identify technical debt and risks, and propose actionable remediation plans

• Work with Security and Cloud teams to ensure Security by Design and cost efficiency (FinOps) across solutions and platforms

• Evaluate AI tools and practices applied to software development and define technical guidelines for their safe adoption

• Foster a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing through training sessions, tech talks, and communities of practice

Therefore, bring with you…

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including several years in Technical Architect, Tech Lead, or Principal Engineer roles within complex ecosystems

• Deep knowledge of Cloud-Native architectures, Kubernetes, and hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP)

• Strong expertise in architectural and integration patterns: microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, and domain-driven design

• Hands-on experience with modern engineering practices: CI/CD, DevOps/GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and SRE

• Solid experience in at least one modern backend stack (ideally .NET), with the ability to write and review code

• Experience with Security by Design: identity and access management, secrets management, API security, and software supply chain security

• Proven experience defining technical standards and driving their adoption across multiple teams

• Ability to influence without formal authority and gain the trust of engineering teams

• Excellent communication skills, technical writing (ADRs, guidelines), and facilitation capabilities

We value

• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD)

• Experience with Platform Engineering and internal developer platforms

• Experience with policy-as-code (e.g., OPA, Kyverno) and OpenTelemetry

• Experience with messaging and large-scale event streaming
• Knowledge of AI applied to the software development lifecycle
• Experience in retail or large-scale organizations, as well as legacy systems modernization
