Role Summary
The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for effectively managing maintenance activities, technicians, and operational resources for an assigned focus area in high-volume manufacturing lines. Serving production operations as the primary internal customer, this role balances preventive maintenance plans, critical breakdown responses, and root-cause analysis (RCA) to maximize equipment reliability metrics (MTBF and MTTR). The position manages maintenance budgets, spare parts inventories, and third-party contractors while driving Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), continuous improvement initiatives, energy-saving projects, and strict Safety (EHS) and Quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities
-
Preventive Execution & Failure Analysis: Lead daily preventive/predictive maintenance schedules and respond to critical equipment failures, performing rigorous Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to improve MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and reduce MTTR (Mean Time to Repair).
-
EHS & Safe Work Governance: Authorize and validate high-risk work permits, conduct safety walkthroughs, manage Near-Miss reporting, and ensure all maintenance crews hold proper safety certifications prior to task execution.
-
Packaging & Blow Molding Reliability: Oversee mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC troubleshooting across PET blow molding machines, filling lines, capping/casing, labeling, and palletizing equipment.
-
Resource & Contractor Management: Control assigned maintenance budget (OpEx/CapEx recommendations), managing spare parts inventories, vendor contracts, and external technical services to guarantee optimal asset availability.
-
Continuous Improvement & Energy Efficiency: Drive Continuous Improvement projects, executing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) standards, re-engineering initiatives, and plant-wide energy reduction programs.
-
Team Leadership & Talent Development: Direct, coach, and develop maintenance technicians, fostering a culture of innovation, autonomous maintenance participation, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Required Qualifications
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
-
Experience: 4 to 6 years of experience as a Maintenance Leader, Supervisor, or Reliability Engineer within high-speed manufacturing plants.
-
Technical Mastery (Mandatory):
-
Practical expertise in PET blow molding systems, filling, capping, labeling, and automated palletizing packaging lines.
-
Hands-on knowledge of Industrial Control systems, PLCs, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical principles.
-
Deep command of reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies.
-
Proven experience managing maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory control, and contractor execution.
-
-
Systems: Proficiency in SAP (Plant Maintenance / PM module).
-
Languages: Advanced English proficiency (C1) for technical documentation, global vendor alignment, and executive reporting.
Desired Qualifications
-
TPM / Lean Certification: Professional certification in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt).
-
Energy Management: Direct experience leading sustainability or energy-efficiency projects on plant machinery.
-
Re-engineering & CapEx Projects: Proven track record of evaluating and executing capital investment (CapEx) machinery upgrades.
