Lead System Validation Engineer

About us  

Dyson’s Test & Quality Assurance team helps ensure that every product reflects the quality and reliability of the Dyson brand. We apply world-class engineering practices and automated testing methods across the product lifecycle. This includes simulating product components and operating conditions to test a wide range of scenarios, as well as using image recognition and other advanced technologies to identify and validate elements displayed in user interfaces. Our Quality Management System experts embed quality throughout the Scaled Agile Framework development process and use customer feedback to inform future product improvements. Our laboratories support unattended testing of both partial and complete products—including moving robots—enabling effective remote testing and collaboration.  

About the role  

• Deploy advanced software and electronics testing solutions to enable efficient verification and validation of requirements.  

• Develop and lead comprehensive test strategies & plans, and oversee their execution across robot behaviours and other AI/ML-enabled intelligent features.  

• Design and execute test cases based on functional and quality requirements, including software security, compatibility, and product performance, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.  

• Analyse test results, perform statistical analysis, interpret data to improve system performance, and present findings in clear test reports.  

• Build and maintain software test environments that support both automated and manual testing.  

• Develop automated test cases using Python.  

• Participate in project meetings and Scrum ceremonies to support the delivery of high-quality software.  

• Identify test-related technical issues and design effective solutions to resolve them.  

• Manage and align testing activities with JDM partners to ensure project deliverables are met.  

About you  

• A degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.  

• Strong knowledge of AI/ML and relevant testing experience, including solving complex challenges involving multi-layered datasets and enhancing existing automation libraries and frameworks.  

• Strong programming skills, particularly in Python.  

• Excellent attention to detail, strong communication and technical leadership skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.  

• Sound knowledge of Agile software engineering, software testing, and the secure software development lifecycle.  

• Experience testing software for IoT products, including embedded software, mobile applications, cloud services, and data analytics.  

• Familiarity with software quality assurance principles and relevant techniques and tools.  

• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.  

• Knowledge or experience with robot vacuum cleaner would be advantageous.
