The Bioprocess Downstream Hardware Field Application Specialist is responsible providing pre- and post-sales technical support and application consulting that directly drives increased sales of downstream hardware, significantly impacting the organization’s revenue. By troubleshooting customer technical issues and implementing process improvements, this role enhances customer satisfaction and loyalty, fostering long-term relationships and unlocking further business opportunities across Korea’s biopharmaceutical industry.

This position reports to the BioProcess Hardware Modality Leader, Korea and is part of the Bioprocessing Sales organization located in Korea, working remotely to cover customers across Korea.

What you will do:

  • Deliver on-site application support and hands-on services for downstream chromatography and filtration hardware ensuring safe, reproducible and specification-compliant outcomes. 
  • Provide customer technical support and troubleshooting (method development, UNICORN operation, performance testing, and issue resolution), engaging global product, R&D and service teams to escalate and close complex technical cases. 
  • Plan and conduct customer training and product demonstrations for BioProcess Downstream Hardware at customer sites, demo centers, seminars and exhibitions. 
  • Support pre-sales and design-in activities by reviewing URS/specifications, preparing technical proposals and reference materials, and creating detailed design and implementation specifications for complex products, applications and solutions aligned to manufacturer-stated specifications. 
  • Optimize products and workflows to meet customer needs, building process simulations/mini-applications and capturing Voice-of-Customer to drive continuous improvement and future business opportunities. 

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Biotechnology, Biochemical/Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences or a related discipline. A master's degree or experience in research and development is highly desirable.
  • Multiple years of hands-on experience in bioprocess downstream operations (chromatography and/or filtration), including practical experience with process-scale hardware such as ÄKTA systems, packing columns (AxiChrom/BPG/Chromaflow) or TFF skids. 
  • Demonstrated capability in customer-facing technical support, application consulting, equipment demonstration, or field service within a bioprocessing, life-science instrumentation or equivalent GMP-regulated environment. 
  • Working knowledge of downstream process workflows and automation/software (e.g., UNICORN), with the ability to troubleshoot hardware and process issues independently on-site. 
  • Fluent level of English and Korean in written and verbal communication, able to interface with both Korean customers and Cytiva’s global product teams.

  • Fluent level of English & Korean in written and verbal communications 한국어 및 영어로의 서면 및 구두 의사소통능력이 높으신 분
  • Ability to travel abroad upon business needs 해외여행에 결격사유가 없으신 분
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record within territory or locations 운전을 하여 담당하는 국내 고객사에 방문할 수 있는 분
  • If foreign national, legal work permit is required to pursue employment contract by Korean immigration law 대한민국에서의 근무가 가능한 비자가 있는 분
  • Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 20kg, any other physical requirements

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Process intensification technologies (PCC, Inline Conditioning, single-use systems) and/or sterile filtration integrity testing (PUPSIT/DPFS). 
  • Direct engagement with Korean biopharma customers (e.g., CDMO/biosimilar/vaccine/plasma) and experience supporting large-scale CAPEX or new-facility projects.
