Job Summary

New Relic Observability Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Configure, maintain, and optimize New Relic monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and observability solutions across enterprise infrastructure and applications. Enable, test, troubleshoot, and remediate Synthetic Browser and API Monitors to ensure application availability and performance. Integrate and onboard data sources using REST APIs, webhooks, and custom telemetry, including Meraki, Azure, AWS, GCP, and Palo Alto platforms. Design and implement NRQL-based alert conditions, alert policies, escalation workflows, and notification channels for critical business services. Reduce alert fatigue by identifying and eliminating duplicate, noisy, and non-actionable alerts, improving operational efficiency. Configure and optimize monitoring for Windows, Linux, network, cloud, and security infrastructure, including event log analysis and critical event monitoring. Develop and maintain operational and executive dashboards, service health views, and New Relic Navigator entities and workloads. Analyze data ingestion patterns, optimize telemetry collection, and implement approved actions to reduce unnecessary monitoring costs. Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and monitoring enhancements to improve visibility and service reliability. Collaborate with customer stakeholders, infrastructure teams, and vendors to gather requirements, validate monitoring use cases, and support acceptance activities. Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation guides, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and handover materials. Provide regular project status updates, track risks, dependencies, action items, and support successful service transition and knowledge transfer.

Skill Requirements

L3 New Relic Observability Engineer (5+ years) Expert in New Relic, NRQL, Synthetic Monitoring, Alert Engineering Strong experience with Meraki, Palo Alto, Azure, AWS integrations Advanced Python/PowerShell scripting Experience in observability optimization and ingestion management
