Job Description

Position Summary

As Supervisor, Product Development Engineering, you will lead our Product Development Engineering team within the Desktop Scanning Electron Microscopy (DTS) organization in Brno.


Combining people leadership with hands-on technical contribution, you will build and develop a multidisciplinary team of systems and mechanical engineers responsible for turning product architectures into robust, manufacturable products.


You will work closely with Systems Architecture, Software Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, and Service to drive product development, validation, and release.


This role is part of the expansion of our Brno Development Center. You will play an important role in growing the local engineering organization, developing talent, and facilitating knowledge transfer and collaboration with our teams in Eindhoven.


Our Technology

Our Desktop SEM business develops advanced scanning electron microscopes used worldwide in materials science, manufacturing, research, and quality assurance. Our products combine:


  • Electron optics and vacuum technology
  • Precision mechanics and mechatronics
  • Embedded electronics
  • Scientific software and user interfaces
  • Image acquisition and analysis
  • Manufacturing automation and system integration

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of systems and mechanical engineers.
  • Recruit and develop engineering talent as the Brno organization grows.
  • Drive Desktop SEM product development from architecture through integration, validation, and release.
  • Ensure products meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership during design reviews, system integration, product investigations, and problem solving.
  • Plan engineering resources and priorities in line with product roadmaps and business needs.
  • Work closely with Software, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, Service, and other engineering teams.
  • Support supplier selection, component qualification, and manufacturing introduction.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for complex technical issues.
  • Ensure product development follows applicable quality, regulatory, and engineering change processes.
  • Strengthen engineering practices and facilitate knowledge transfer between Eindhoven and Brno.

What We’re Looking For
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Extensive experience in complex, high-tech product development.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and developing engineers.
  • Strong understanding of the complete product development lifecycle, from design through validation and release.
  • Experience with product integration, verification, validation, and manufacturing introduction.
  • Experience working with suppliers and component qualification.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Nice to Have

Experience with scientific instrumentation, SEM, complex mechatronic products, supplier selection and RFQs, international R&D organizations, or engineering tools such as Jama and PLM would be an advantage.
