Structural Steel QC Inspector
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift
Pay: Starting at $31/hour, higher depending on experience
Overtime: Saturdays available
Position Overview
We are looking for a Structural Steel QC Inspector to support quality control in a structural steel fabrication environment. Candidates with strong structural steel fitting or fabrication experience at a senior level may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect structural steel throughout the fabrication process and at completion.
- Verify finished work against shop drawings, specifications, and required standards.
- Check dimensions, layout, part placement, and overall fabrication accuracy.
- Identify, document, and help resolve nonconforming work using AWS D1.1 and D1.5 requirements.
- Perform both in-process and final quality inspections.
- Work closely with production personnel to address quality concerns and prevent repeat issues.
- Assist with quality improvement efforts and maintain consistent inspection practices.
- Participate in AISC quality control audits.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication.
- Experience performing quality inspections in a structural steel fabrication setting.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and construction plans.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and quality requirements.
- Welding certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 is preferred.
- Senior structural steel fitters/fabricators with strong layout and fabrication experience may also be considered.

- Monday–Friday, 1st Shift
- Saturday overtime available
