Staff Pharmacist Manager

On-site Austin, United States

Company Overview:

Blink Health is the fastest growing healthcare technology company that builds products to make prescriptions accessible and affordable to everybody.  Our two primary products – BlinkRx and Quick Save – remove traditional roadblocks within the current prescription supply chain, resulting in better access to critical medications and improved health outcomes for patients.

BlinkRx is the world’s first pharma-to-patient cloud that offers a digital concierge service for patients who are prescribed branded medications. Patients benefit from transparent low prices, free home delivery, and world-class support on this first-of-its-kind centralized platform. With BlinkRx, never again will a patient show up at the pharmacy only to discover that they can’t afford their medication, their doctor needs to fill out a form for them, or the pharmacy doesn’t have the medication in stock.

We are a highly collaborative team of builders and operators who invent new ways of working in an industry that historically has resisted innovation. Join us!

About the Role

This role steps away from day-to-day patient care to focus on business operations and people management. You will manage a team of pharmacists and/or leads and ensure clinical safety and quality in a highly regulated environment. It's a great fit for a strong people leader who is metrics-driven and thrives in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

Team Management & Career Development

  • Manage the day-to-day performance of a pharmacy operations team, including pharmacists and/or leads, as a primary duty.
  • Provide regular performance feedback and longer-term career development guidance, coaching and sponsoring direct reports toward their next stage of growth.
  • Drive hiring and oversee onboarding, ensuring candidates are qualified and aligned with company culture and operational standards.
  • Address underperformance promptly through coaching, improvement plans, or, when necessary, termination processes.
  • Develop and calibrate leads, where applicable, so they can run front-line operations independently.

Operational Planning & Excellence

  • Translate broader pharmacy objectives into short-term operational plans for your areas, including distributing team capacity and capability, communicating metric targets, and escalating resource gaps.
  • Create and execute ongoing plans to improve the operational health of your processes, using data and judgment to maintain performance against key metrics and SLAs and to prioritize investments in operational excellence.
  • Analyze productivity trends to optimize workflow and plan ahead for staffing and assignments.
  • Evaluate the overall quality of team results and metrics, giving clear feedback and rationale so the team can iterate and adjust.
  • Proactively identify and resolve blockers and bottlenecks, creating effective solutions or efficient workarounds.
  • Partner with peer managers to coordinate resourcing and plans in support of shared and higher-level goals.
  • Work with senior leaders to adjust targets when appropriate.

Clinical Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Be accountable for the clinical safety and quality of prescriptions managed and fulfilled by Blink, including related counseling, advice, and support.
  • Perform audits and accuracy verifications, and participate in regulatory reviews to uphold the professional, ethical, and legal standards of pharmacy practice.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with corporate policies and State and Federal laws.
  • Proactively identify and address compliance risks or errors in operational processes.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and proper destruction of documentation containing patient information.

Complex Problem-Solving & Escalations

  • Resolve complex clinical or operational issues that span multiple pharmacy products and programs.
  • Own and resolve escalated patient concerns, ensuring excellent service and patient satisfaction.
  • Apply an understanding of larger pharmacy and company objectives to identify and prioritize the most impactful work.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Product Influence

  • Influence product and design teams (e.g., RxOS) by bringing front-line feedback and data to improve the user experience of pharmacy products and workflows.
  • Foster open communication within and across teams so everyone is aligned on goals and priorities.
  • Communicate updates, changes, and best practices clearly to the team and to stakeholders.

Leadership

  • Model professionalism, accountability, and excellence.
  • Promote a positive, engaging environment that values teamwork, accountability, and employee satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Active, unrestricted home state pharmacist license in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy.
    • Licensure in other states is preferred. You will be required to obtain an Idaho pharmacist license prior to start and any additional licensure as needed.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years directly managing the work and performance of others, with demonstrated experience leading a team of 10 or more (which may include managing leads).
  • Demonstrated ability to audit the work processes and deliverables of others, with sufficient depth in pharmacy practice to evaluate quality and compliance.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate teams, foster accountability, and develop talent over the long term.
  • Expertise in using data and technology to optimize processes and drive continuous improvement, including analyzing performance and productivity trends.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with patients, peers, product teams, and senior leaders.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn complex new software.
  • Sound judgment, critical thinking, and attention to detail in managing complex, dynamic operations and competing priorities.
