Sr. HR Manager

Mueller’s manufacturing commitment ensures one of the world’s most precious resources, clean drinking water, reaches millions of people daily.  Come be a part of something that sustains and enriches the lives of every human being.  As a Senior HR Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of HR management for our facility. You will drive key initiatives for our people strategy ensuring compliance while remaining a partner to the business, and a customer service-centric department.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic HR business partner to plant leadership, translating business objectives into workforce, talent, organizational, and employee-relations strategies.
  • Develop and implement human resources strategies in areas including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, succession planning, employee relations and retention, and AA/EEO compliance.
  • Lead and advise management on complex employee-relations matters, including workplace investigations, performance management, progressive discipline, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and employment-risk mitigation.
  • Partner with Compensation and operational leadership to evaluate wage structures, market competitiveness, internal equity, promotional pay, and other compensation matters affecting workforce attraction and retention.
  • Partner with corporate and external support services including legal, benefits, compensation, payroll, HRIS, leaves management to provide bridged support to internal customers.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by remaining updated on new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. Ensure adherence to Mueller internal controls in areas such as payroll, benefits, etc.
  • Develop leadership capability through coaching, training, supervisor onboarding, and targeted leadership-development initiatives.
  • Use workforce data, HR metrics, and business information to identify trends, assess organizational needs, and recommend actions.
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value.
  • Lead and develop the local HR team, establishing priorities, building capability, and ensuring consistent execution of HR programs and employee support.
  • Provide direct supervision, guidance, and mentoring to local HR department.
  • Through partnership with EHS team, ensure the safety employees, through HR support of EHS initiatives and programs designed to reduce or eliminate risk. Partner with risk and EHS teams in events relating to workers compensations claims, disciplinary action, employee injuries, and policy implementation.
  • Drive and support Employee Engagement Survey action items driving meaningful action to employee feedback.
  • Ensure constant communications from plant leadership with all levels of employees and proactively seek out communication opportunities for employees.
  • Provide HR support to ancillary facilities including Cleveland, TN warehouse and remote Kansas warehouse as needed. Travel or meet with leaders to these sites as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Strong PC/Systems Knowledge including Microsoft Office and HRIS skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully achieve goals through influence at high levels of an organization.
  • Ability to consistently provide positive and negative feedback to external process partners and peers in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to identify employees’ strengths and limitations and give both spectrums of feedback (positive and constructive).
  • Ability to coach supervisors and managers at all levels in varying topics including performance management, progressive discipline, interpersonal issues, training, etc.
  • Has influence with peers at staff level to understand & achieve alignment and common goal(s).
  • Experience measuring and mitigating risk.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related HR-discipline
  • 5+ years related HR generalist experience.
  • HR experience in a manufacturing plant environment
  • HR experience with both production and office employees

  Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in business or related HR-discipline
  • 5+ years in a leadership role, preferably in HR environment
  • PHR or SPHR certification

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain in stationary position or standing position for prolonged periods and alternate between
  • Ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment. 
  • Ability to constantly communicate with others to exchange information in person, via phone, or via use of computer.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds in weight in all directions.
