Software Developer - .NET Core

Purpose of job

We are seeking a motivated Software Developer (L1) to contribute to the development of enterprise-grade applications built on the Microsoft technology stack. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in .NET Core/.NET 8+ and C#, exposure to Azure cloud services, and a strong desire to grow. You will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, learning while contributing to scalable, secure, and high-performance software solutions.  

We'll trust you to

• Develop, test, and maintain features and modules for applications using .NET Core/.NET 8+ and C#  

• Follow the team's established design patterns, architectural guidelines, and Microsoft framework best practices  

• Adhere to coding standards, participate in code reviews, and incorporate feedback from senior engineers  

• Work with Product Management, senior developers, and QA to understand requirements and implement them as technical solutions  

• Build and consume RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core, and contribute to microservices-based components under guidance  

• Use Azure DevOps for source control, CI/CD pipelines, and work item tracking, and write automated tests as part of the delivery workflow  

• Write and optimize SQL Server queries and stored procedures, and support data modelling and basic indexing tasks  

• Debug and resolve defects, and flag performance bottlenecks and technical debt to the team for resolution  

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, provide estimates for assigned tasks, and deliver on sprint commitments  

• Keep learning .NET and Microsoft ecosystem advancements and apply new skills to day-to-day work  

You'll need to have:

• 1-3 years of professional software development experience on the Microsoft technology stack (strong internships or project work will be considered)  

• 1-3 years of hands-on experience with .NET Core/.NET 5+ and C#  

• Working knowledge of ASP.NET Core Web API, MVC patterns, middleware, and dependency injection  

• Working knowledge of Entity Framework Core, including migrations and database-first/code-first approaches  

• Good SQL Server skills, including writing queries and joins and creating stored procedures, with a basic understanding of indexing and query performance  

• Exposure to Azure cloud services (App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL)  

• Good understanding of object-oriented programming, asynchronous programming (async/await), and core .NET fundamentals  

• Ability to write unit tests using xUnit or NUnit  

• Familiarity with Git and Azure DevOps for source control, CI/CD pipelines, and work item tracking  

• Good communication skills, willingness to learn, and ability to collaborate effectively within a team  

Preferred Qualifications  

• Awareness of Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) and Microsoft Identity Platform for authentication and authorization  

• Familiarity with Azure Cosmos DB, or Azure Blob Storage  

• Awareness of Azure API Management and API gateway patterns  

• Exposure to Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics for observability  

• Microsoft certifications (Azure Fundamentals, Azure Developer Associate) are a plus  

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
