Senior System Engineer (m/w/d)
Company Description
Job Description
Wabtec Corporation is a global leader in equipment, systems, digital solutions, and value-added services for the freight and transit rail industry.
The ANNAX Group has been part of Wabtec Corporation since 2018 and operates across three locations in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and China with over 360 employees. ANNAX provides comprehensive technical solutions to generate, transmit, and display information. Our system solutions for the rail industry include the ANNAX Passenger Information System, which integrates numerous subsystems such as seat reservation, passenger counting, video surveillance, information for visually and hearing-impaired passengers, infotainment/entertainment systems, and more.
How will you make a difference?
As Senior System Engineer, you are the technical architect behind these systems. You translate customer and regulatory requirements into robust system designs, make sure hardware, software and networks fit together perfectly, and guide your system from the first concept to the moment a train rolls out with it on board. Along the way, you keep the technical side of your projects on track and get to see the real-world impact of what you build.
What will your typical day look like?
Analyze customer specifications and turn them into clear system requirements, traceable all the way through design, integration and testing.
Design the system architecture of Passenger Information and Video Protection Systems, including hardware, software, network and interfaces to the vehicle and wayside.
Define and manage interfaces with internal teams, train manufacturers and suppliers, and keep the big picture consistent.
Own the system documentation, from requirement specifications and architecture descriptions to interface documents and test specifications.
Drive system integration, verification and validation, from the lab to type tests and commissioning on the vehicle.
Make sure our systems meet rail standards for RAMS, EMC, fire protection and cybersecurity.
Lead the technical work packages of your projects: plan effort, schedule and technical risks, and work closely with the commercial project manager.
Support bids and presales with solution concepts, technical clarifications and well-founded effort estimates.
Share what you know: mentor colleagues and help us continuously improve our system engineering methods.
What do we want to know from you?
A degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or something similar.
Several years (typically 7+) of experience in system engineering of complex embedded systems.
Solid experience in requirements engineering, system architecture and integration and testing of hardware and software.
Good knowledge of embedded hardware architectures, digital electronics and embedded Linux.
A strong grasp of IP/Ethernet networks and networked system architectures.
Experience in leading technical work packages, ideally with first project management responsibility.
The ability to explain complex things simply, whether to a developer, a supplier or a customer.
Fluent English and German. French is a plus.
Legal authorization to work in EU is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Please note that we do not accept agency candidate submissions without a formalized agreement with Wabtec Talent Acquisition. If you are an agency/third party Recruiter and have not been engaged by Wabtec for this search, we do not owe you a fee if you submit a candidate to the applicant tracking system that is ultimately hired.
