Senior Simulation Engineer - Affirmative Opportunity for People with Disabilities

On-site Curitiba, Brazil

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

Our Commitment:

At the Volvo Group, we believe that diverse perspectives, experiences, and talents drive innovation and strengthen our ability to create prosperity through transport solutions. We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace built on equal opportunities for everyone.

This is an affirmative opportunity for people with disabilities, reinforcing our commitment to building increasingly diverse and inclusive teams.

What you will do

At Complete Vehicle you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. As a Senior Durability Simulation Engineer, you will be the bridge between physical and virtual verification in a department with a strong experimental engineering culture, rich physical test data and a team of skilled test engineers by your side. You will:

  • Lead the correlation between physical tests and virtual models, from measured loads and strains to fatigue damage, using data from test rigs, proving grounds and customer roads.
  • Guide the definition of which load cases and conditions should be tested physically and which can be verified virtually, making our test programs smarter and more efficient.
  • Support the creation of new test protocols, such as rig test specifications and accelerated test sequences, combining simulation insights with customer usage data.
  • Build and validate finite element and multibody models of truck structures and systems, and use them to deepen the understanding of physical test results.
  • Drive the digitalization of our verification and validation processes by developing methods, tools and workflows that connect test data and simulation.
  • Share your expertise with test engineers and stakeholders through clear reports, recommendations and coaching.

Your future team

You will be part of the Customer Feature Verification team within Complete Vehicle, in a department with a strong tradition in experimental engineering. We translate customer features into technical requirements and verify and validate our products and services. You will work side by side with a team of skilled test engineers, who will support you throughout the digitalization journey of our verification and validation processes.

Who are you?

Do you dream big? We do too, and we are excited to grow together.

In this role, you will bring:

  • A Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (equivalent to a Mechanical Engineering degree in Brazil) and a Brazilian Master’s degree, completed or ongoing, preferably in structural mechanics, fatigue or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in durability simulation, with a strong track record of correlating numerical models with physical test data, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Solid knowledge of fatigue and durability data analysis, such as stress-life and strain-life methods, rainflow counting, damage accumulation and signal processing.
  • Proficiency in simulation software such as HyperMesh, Nastran or Abaqus, and in durability software such as nCode DesignLife, nCode GlyphWorks or FEMFAT.
  • Programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB for handling large data sets and automating workflows.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to guide others: you build trust with test engineers, turn simulation results into practical test recommendations and communicate clearly with both specialists and non-specialists.

It is a plus if you also have:

  • Hands-on experience with physical durability testing, such as road load data acquisition, strain gauging or rig testing.
  • Experience in defining test specifications or accelerated test protocols based on customer usage.
  • Experience with multibody simulation, such as Adams, and virtual proving-ground methods.
  • Experience in digitalizing engineering processes, for example through data pipelines, automation or simulation data management.
  • Experience with commercial vehicles or other heavy-duty applications.
