Senior FP&A Analyst

On-site London, United Kingdom

Fresh Food, Happy Dogs.

We believe dogs deserve the healthiest, most natural and tastiest meals - with none of the nasties. That’s why we make FRESHly prepared food, cooked just like you would at home and delivered direct to our customers in perfect portions. As a B-Corp certified company, you’re joining a sustainable business that genuinely cares about our people, our products and our impact on the planet. Our goal is simple: to help dogs live healthier, happier, and longer lives, while leaving humans smiling after every interaction.

We’ve come a long way since our co-founders (Kev & Dave), hand delivered the very first Butternut Box. Today, we feed hundreds of thousands of hungry dogs across the UK and Europe - but we won’t stop until we’re feeding dogs everywhere. To get there, we need a team of brilliant people who share that ambition to come and work for us.

We’re looking for a hard-working, ambitious and highly analytical Senior FP&A Analyst to join the team here at Butternut Box. The successful candidate would need to be a qualified accountant with FP&A experience, strong Excel skills and be keen for a step up into a fast-paced environment where comfort with ambiguity is a must.

📣 A bit about the role.

As a senior FP&A analyst you will provide support to the business spanning all aspects of reporting, planning, forecasting and budgeting as well as insightful analysis to help the company meet its objectives. You will be comfortable both analysing bulk data and owning projects. In this role, you can expect to:

  • Run the rolling forecast process. This will involve collating output from our management accounts and business leaders, to understand how deviations from plan impact the P&L + cash over the short, medium and long term.
  • Support budgeting and long range planning processes. Lead defined workstreams within our FP&A cycle.
  • Run periodic P&L and cash variance analyses, identifying root causes and working with budget owners to implement solutions.
  • Host 4-weekly periodic business reviews (PBRs) with budget owners. Understand the risks and opportunities facing the business to ensure we are having the right discussions and making timely decisions based on business performance.
  • Work with our commercial teams to understand in granular detail: CPA, future growth rates, retention, channel effectiveness and where to allocate resources, customer profiles, etc.
  • Work with our operational teams to understand in granular detail: unit economics, standard costs, yield, write-offs, OEE, etc.
  • Model out scenarios for different product / market launches and growth initiatives. We are quickly expanding across Europe; this role will help us prepare for new market launches and will work closely with international teams to support their success.
  • Present analysis to senior leadership and prepare quarterly board materials, including ad-hoc deep dives such as sensitivity analyses, margin drivers and working capital.
  • Own processes and team goals. Use AI and automation to make our reporting faster and sharper.
