We are seeking a talented individual to join our JLT Public Sector team, part of our risk business at Marsh. This role will be based in Melbourne. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As a Senior Consultant you will be part of the Risk Team, and our mission is simple - We help make communities safer, protect community assets, and work to reduce the impact of claims on our Mutual and Member clients.
Reporting to the Divisional Manager – Risk, the Senior Consultant is a hands-on, client facing position, responsible for developing and delivering a wide range of risk services with local and state government clients. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and maintain relationships with Leaders and Senior stakeholders within councils and play a strategic role in the direction of the business.

We will count on you to:
- Manage the provision of impactful advice, both oral and written to Member staff and executives, primarily on operational, business resilience, property, liability and professional indemnity risk issues.
- Contribute to developing and delivering education, guidance and assurance tools that assist members manage specific risk management issues.
- Target the training needs of Members, lead in delivering seminars., workshops and training.
- Apply your clear and effective communication, and critical thinking skills to help Member staff solve problems.
- Build your reputation as a trusted adviser – who understands risk in the Public Sector context and who can offer clear, practical and actionable risk management advice.
- Be available to travel within Victoria and Tasmania, which will from time to time require overnight trips.
What you need to have:
- Deep real world - practical experience applying risk management philosophies and practices.
- Proven ability to plan and execute policy and operational level consulting/advisory projects.
- A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of the law as it relates to civil liabilities etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of risk as it relates to property and assets.
- Proven ability to co-ordinate and participate in seminars and workshops for members, training skills and the ability to effectively manage meetings and groups.
