THE ROLE
The Security Dispatch position serves as a central communication and coordination point for Huntington Place’s Public Safety & Security operations. This role is responsible for answering incoming calls, dispatching security personnel, monitoring CCTV and access control systems, coordinating responses to emergency and non-emergency situations, and maintaining accurate department records.
Working closely with Security Officers, Supervisors, Management, and emergency response partners, the Security Dispatcher helps support the safe, secure, and efficient day-to-day operation of the facility. The ideal candidate remains calm under pressure, communicates clearly, manages multiple priorities, and exercises sound judgment in time-sensitive situations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Dispatch & Emergency Communications
- Answer and respond to incoming calls to the Public Safety & Security Operations Center.
- Receive, assess, prioritize, and dispatch security personnel to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Coordinate patrol operations through radio, telephone, surveillance, and other communication systems.
- Communicate effectively with Security Officers, Supervisors, Management, and emergency response personnel.
- Contact police, fire, EMS, or other emergency personnel as appropriate for medical emergencies, fires, restricted areas, unlawful activity, or other incidents.
- Monitor and respond to radio communications while maintaining clear and accurate information flow.
- Remain calm, professional, and composed when managing emergency or high-pressure situations.
Security Systems & Monitoring
- Monitor CCTV systems for emergency and non-emergency incidents throughout the facility.
- Monitor and operate access control systems.
- Identify and communicate security concerns, suspicious activity, safety issues, and other incidents requiring response.
- Coordinate with security personnel to support effective patrol coverage and facility security.
- Utilize available technology and communication systems to support daily Public Safety & Security operations.
Records & Documentation
- Maintain accurate electronic and written records for the Public Safety & Security department.
- Complete and maintain incident reports, notifications, and incident logs.
- Maintain daily activity logs, schedules, patrol assignments, and service requests.
- Document telephone messages and other operational communications.
- Ensure records are complete, accurate, timely, and maintained in accordance with department procedures.
- Perform additional record-keeping duties and operate related equipment as assigned.
Team & Facility Support
- Partner with Security Officers, Supervisors, facility management, and other departments to support daily facility operations.
- Provide accurate and timely information to internal and external customers.
- Support a professional, collaborative, and service-oriented team environment.
- Follow all safety, security, emergency response, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervision or management.
KEY DELIVERABLES
- Timely and accurate dispatch of security personnel to calls for service.
- Clear and effective communication during emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Consistent monitoring of CCTV and access control systems.
- Accurate, complete, and timely incident and operational documentation.
- Effective coordination with Security Officers, Supervisors, Management, and emergency response partners.
- Professional and customer-focused support of Huntington Place’s safety and security operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College education and/or education or experience in security, law enforcement, emergency dispatch, fire, EMS, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in dispatch, communications, call center operations, security, law enforcement, fire, EMS, or another emergency response environment preferred.
- Previous experience operating CCTV and/or access control systems preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification required or must be obtained within the designated timeframe.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate clearly in English.
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365.
- Excellent typing, documentation, and data-entry skills.
- Ability to listen to and respond appropriately to radio communications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods, including an eight-hour shift.
- Ability to continuously monitor computer screens, CCTV systems, telephones, and radio communications.
- Ability to work overnight hours and maintain alertness throughout the shift.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and respond appropriately to changing priorities and emergency situations.
- May be required to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, or other non-standard hours based on facility and event requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is primarily performed in a security operations/dispatch environment and requires prolonged sitting, computer use, telephone communication, radio monitoring, and continuous attention to surveillance and access control systems. The position requires the ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with security personnel and facility leadership.
