Receptionist
The Receptionist is responsible for greeting and assisting visitors, answering phones, and performing general clerical work in support of Hospital patients and staff. This position must i ntegrate company values into daily practice.
Evening Hours: Monday to Friday 5pm to 8pm
Essential Functions:
- Greets visitors positively and professionally and maintains visitor registration logs.
- Directs patients and visitors to appropriate parties and answers basic questions.
- Answers telephone and correctly routes calls via phone or paging system.
- Performs general clerical and data entry duties.
- Ensures reception area is maintained and clean and provides a calm environment for visitors.
- Communicates with appropriate staff during emergency situations and drills.
- Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
- Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
- Completes required trainings, as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements
Minimum Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of receptionist experience in healthcare setting preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:
- Must maintain acceptable driving record, current driver’s license, and insurability.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office software, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrates effective organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.
Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift:
- A significant amount of sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Lifting/exerting of up to 25 lbs.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear overhead pages.
