The Pre-Admission Screening (PAS) Support Specialist completes the pre-admission screen of prospective patients by using the provided clinical records to ensure they meet clinical guidelines for inpatient rehabilitation. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.
Essential Functions
- Performs assigned Pre-Admission Screening (PAS) within 48 hours of admission.
- Reviews acute care medical records, diagnostic results, and physician notes to assess current medical stability and active medical management needs.
- Obtains patients prior and current levels of function from provided clinical record.
- Complies with appropriate and approved safety standards.
Minimum Job Requirements
Minimum Education & Experience
- 1x year experience in Inpatient Rehabilitation environment required.
- 1x year successful PAS completion experience required.
- 5x years nursing experience required.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation
- Current, valid Registered Nurse (Multistate Compact) license required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of CMS IRF guidelines, the 60% rule, and Medicare coverage criteria.
- Knowledge in accreditation and regulatory standards affecting Nursing and Inpatient Rehabilitation areas.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
