Manager, Software Engineering - Orchestration and Workflows

You’ll be surrounded by teammates who care deeply, challenge each other, and celebrate wins. With tools that amplify your impact and a culture that backs your ambition, you won’t just contribute. You’ll make things happen–fast.
ZoomInfo is looking for a technical, people-focused Engineering Manager to lead our Orchestration and Workflows team. You'll own the orchestration layer that powers how customers build workflows and orchestrate data—from a simple webhook to complex, rules-based automation. If you thrive leading distributed systems engineers through ambiguity while scaling billions of requests a day, this role is built for you.
What You'll Do:
- Lead, coach, and grow a team of backend and frontend engineers delivering reliable, scalable systems for ZoomInfo's platform.
- Set technical direction and priorities for the Workflows group, guiding architectural decisions across Java, TypeScript, NestJS, MongoDB, and Confluent Cloud.
- Drive execution of key projects, balancing roadmap delivery with engineering best practices such as clean code, testing, observability, and CI/CD.
- Partner cross-functionally with product managers, TPMs, and stakeholders to define goals, clarify requirements, and align on priorities.
- Build a healthy engineering culture that encourages curiosity, ownership, innovation, and continuous learning across multiple sites.
- Recruit and onboard new talent, creating a smooth, inclusive experience for every new team member.
What You Bring:
Must-Have:
- 4+ years of engineering management experience, including direct mentorship and performance management of engineers.
- Proven track record scaling engineering teams from scratch—defining hiring roadmaps, establishing team culture and norms, and driving execution in ambiguous, early-stage environments.
- Experience leading distributed, multi-region engineering teams, with clear communication rhythms and inclusive practices that bridge time zones.
- 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, preferably with modern backend stacks such as TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and Java.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts: state management, long-running processes, fault tolerance, and high availability.
Preferred:
- Fluency with workflow orchestration technologies such as Google Cloud Workflows, Temporal, or equivalent.
- Grounding in event-driven architecture and streaming platforms, Kafka preferred.
- Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Google Cloud Bigtable, Redis), including data modeling and query performance at scale.
- Fluency in API design for integration-heavy systems: REST, webhooks, bulk sync, idempotency, retry semantics, and rate limiting.
- Familiarity with GCP services, particularly Cloud Workflows, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and GKE.
- Experience leading teams that specifically bridge US and India-based engineers.
