Role Overview
At ProAg, we're looking for a Lead Software Engineer who can bridge the gap between business strategy and technology execution. In this role, you'll partner with product, business, and engineering teams to transform complex challenges into scalable, impactful solutions while providing technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle. You'll help shape technical direction, evaluate solution options and tradeoffs, and guide teams toward secure, reliable, and maintainable outcomes that deliver meaningful business value. ProAg follows a 4:1 hybrid schedule. Monday – Thursday is in office, with Friday being remote.
In this Exciting Opportunity, You Will:
- Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, stakeholders, and engineers to understand the problem behind a request and clarify the desired business outcome.
- Translate business needs into practical technical approaches, identifying options, tradeoffs, risks, assumptions, and dependencies.
- Provide Level of Effort estimates (sizings), document risks and assumptions, and create prototypes or proof-of-concepts when needed to reduce uncertainty.
- Design your Scrum team's technical solutions and guide implementation toward solutions that are effective, supportable, secure, and aligned with ProAg's technology direction.
- Lead technical discussions and decisions within the team, knowing when broader alignment with Solution Architecture or other engineering teams as needed.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences and build alignment around recommended approaches.
- Work with DevOps to release and operate the team's products successfully across environments.
- Use engineering standards, development practices, monitoring, and operational data to improve quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, eliminate unnecessary complexity, and use technology - including AI and other emerging capabilities - to increase effectiveness and productivity.
- Help the Scrum team deliver value predictably while keeping sight of the broader product and business objectives.
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience
- Strong expertise in modern application architecture, APIs, databases, cloud technologies, and software engineering best practices
- Ability to provide technical leadership, influence decisions, and guide teams toward effective solutions
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand business processes and translate needs into technology solutions
- Proven experience in software engineering and solutions development, with a track record of leading complex technical initiatives
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, including explaining technical concepts and tradeoffs to diverse audiences

Pay Transparency
The pay range for this position is $155,000 - $165,000, which includes geographic adjustments, where applicable. The pay range is the range THMCC, in good faith, believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting. The hired applicant will be offered pay within the entire range based on the candidate’s geographic location, qualifications, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
