Implementation Project Manager (SaaS/Fintech)

On-site Addison, United States full time
Who We Are:   At Emburse, you’ll not just imagine the future – you’ll build it. As a leader in expense intelligence, we are creating a future where technology drives business value and inspires extraordinary results.  Our AI-powered platform helps organizations modernize financial operations, increase visibility, and optimize spend across the enterprise.

The Implementation Project Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering seamless software activations and configurations for new and expanding enterprise clients. Acting as the functional and technical expert, you will lead clients through the end-to-end implementation lifecycle—from analyzing sales orders and gathering requirements to final software deployment and client handoff. You will bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution, designing tailored software configurations that position clients for long-term operational success.

In this role, you will take full ownership of project scoping, timeline management, and cross-functional risk mitigation. You will meticulously review initial sales details to spot potential risks before kickoff, ensure all deliverables align with customer expectations, and maintain proactive, clear communication with both internal and external stakeholders. Leveraging both user-interface settings and back-end databases, scripts, and administrative tools, you will build and validate solutions that modernize our clients’ expense operations while keeping projects on schedule and within scope.

**Please note we are not able to offer sponsorship now OR in the future

What you will Do:

  • Enterprise Client Onboarding: Lead end-to-end software implementations for large, enterprise-market clients (CER), taking primary ownership of high-revenue, complex, and strategic projects.

  • Requirements & Discovery: Facilitate client kick-offs, requirement-gathering sessions, and discovery meetings to translate business needs into tailored software capabilities.

  • System Configuration & Setup: Configure Emburse software according to project scope using user-interface settings, back-end configurations, and administrative tools to meet client requirements.

  • Mentorship & Team Leadership: Serve as a mentor, trainer, and functional resource for Implementation Specialists, guiding team members on best practices and technical onboarding.

  • Escalation Point: Act as the primary escalation contact for internal team members regarding product, process, and complex technical or troubleshooting questions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Customer Success, Development, and Product teams to align on client needs, manage technical escalations, and execute seamless handoffs.

  • Process & Efficiency Improvements: Help develop and update core implementation workflows, providing guidance and feedback to refine internal tools, reduce turnaround times, and boost efficiency.

  • Project & Scope Management: Track milestones, manage deliverables, and handle multiple concurrent implementations within workload expectations while proactively mitigating risks.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Deliver exceptional, consultative customer service and maintain clear, regular status updates with client-side and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Product Expertise: Maintain advanced technical knowledge of Emburse solutions through continuous learning, testing, and collaboration to guide clients toward optimal long-term system usage.

What you will Bring:

  • 5+ years of project management experience in a software delivery organization, including active involvement or leadership within a PMO environment.

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of corporate accounting systems, financial practices, and industry terminology relevant to expense and financial operations.

  • Hands-on mastery of the end-to-end project lifecycle, with a proven ability to manage complex, enterprise-level implementations with minimal oversight.

  • Exceptional customer-handling skills with demonstrated success navigating complex client escalations, resolving concerns, and exercising influence with external stakeholders.

  • Skill in analyzing business data to understand client operations, identify core requirements, and deliver actionable, high-value configuration insights.

  • Strong ability to see the "big picture," evaluate workflows, and execute efficient, scalable implementation processes across projects.

  • Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills, with fluency in articulating the value of structured project management practices to clients and internal teams.
