ILS Field Service Technician

Aim of the position

The position focuses on delivering Industrial Lifetime Solutions (ILS) services to customers in the Italian sales area, while using technical service visits and consultations to understand customer needs, identify improvement opportunities, and develop qualified up- and cross-selling opportunities in collaboration with ILS Sales. In addition, provide expert services in other countries as required on an occasional bases.

Your Key Responsibilities

A) Technical Service Delivery (Core)
•    Deliver expert services across industries (e.g. Oil & Gas, Cement, Raw Materials, Food & Beverage, Chemicals, Marine, Pulp & Paper, and Mining).
•    Apply the Schaeffler Lifetime Solutions portfolio, including SmartCheck, ProLink, the OPTIME ecosystem and devices, Smart Lubricators, OPTIME E-CM, lubricants, and Smart Maintenance Tools.
•    Handle service tickets, remote monitoring, and on-site services, such as installations, troubleshooting, borescope inspections, and balancing. Prepare customer reports when required.
•    Provide sales support by developing solution proposals, including preparing bills of materials for quotations.
•    Support customer-farming activities in collaboration with ILS Sales colleagues to build strong customer relationships and loyalty.
•    Perform other role-related tasks assigned by the line manager.
B) Commercial / Customer Development (Add-on)
•    Use service visits and technical consultations to understand customer context, pain points, and improvement opportunities.
•    Translate customer challenges into ILS solution opportunities and propose suitable solutions through technical consultations.
•    Identify and document upsell and cross-sell opportunities (e.g. additional monitoring points, complementary sensors or lubrication points, and an extended service scope).
•    Hand over qualified leads to Sales for commercial follow-up, providing technical input as required.

Your Qualifications

•    Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent.
•    Beneficial: ISO 18436-2 Category I certification or higher.
•    Background in solving engineering problems, with experience or knowledge in e.g. condition monitoring / predictive maintenance
•    Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain findings and recommendations clearly to different customer audiences. Ability to identify customers’ pain points and needs for further solutions.
•    Fluent spoken and written Italian and English.
•    Willingness to travel extensively (>70%).
•    Beneficial: More than two years of sector- and application-specific knowledge in the industries listed above.
•    Beneficial: More than two years of experience in a maintenance or reliability department.
•    Optional: Skills in advanced condition-monitoring methods, such as Motion Amplification, thermography, lube oil analysis, ultrasonics, acoustic emission, or rotor dynamics.
