Head of Operations Technology (m/f/d)

On-site Munich, Germany full time

JOIN OUR TEAM

As a Head of Operations Technology, you will own the product and technology behind Westwing’s operational backbone, including order management, warehouse management, and customer care across 20+ European markets. Having recently completed a major migration of our order and warehouse management systems to modern SaaS platforms, Fluent OMS and Reflex WMS, we are now building the next generation of scalable, automated operations on top of that foundation. As the accountable leader for this landscape, you will combine product ownership with engineering leadership, managing a team of engineers and product managers, setting the roadmap, and ensuring our systems perform reliably at peak and scale efficiently as we grow. In this high-impact role, you will act as an AI-native leader who views AI as the default way to build, run, and elevate operational processes across the business. This position is permanent and based in Munich.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the end-to-end product and technology strategy for our operations platform, covering Fluent OMS, Reflex WMS, Zendesk, and the in-house tools and integrations connecting them to our storefront, ERP, and carrier landscape
  • Lead and grow a cross-functional team of 6 engineers and 2 product managers, building a culture of ownership, operational excellence, and high delivery standards
  • Act as the technical authority for our operations platform, shaping orchestration logic, workflows, and integrations in Fluent while setting development, testing, and deployment standards across our SaaS landscape
  • Own the reliability and performance of our operational systems, including monitoring, incident management, root-cause analysis, and peak readiness during major commercial campaigns
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across Logistics, Warehouse, Customer Care, Finance, and Sourcing to translate operational strategy into a prioritised roadmap with clear KPIs such as fulfilment lead time, cost per order, order accuracy, and contact rate
  • Manage SaaS vendors and integration partners strategically, covering roadmap alignment, escalations, contract management, and maximum value extraction from our platform investments
  • Drive AI as the default in operational workflows and team practices, deploying AI agents and automation across order flows, warehouse processes, and customer care while establishing AI-assisted engineering practices

YOU COME WITH

  • 8+ years of experience in e-commerce, retail, or logistics technology, including 3+ years leading engineering or product teams
  • Deep expertise in running complex operational environments, spanning order management, warehouse management, carrier integrations, and customer care systems end-to-end
  • Hands-on development experience with Fluent Commerce or another distributed order management system
  • Proven AI-native expertise with hands-on experience building and shipping production AI solutions such as LLM-based agents, workflow automation, or AI-assisted customer service tools
  • Strong architecture and integration skills covering event-driven systems, APIs, middleware, and data flows between SaaS platforms and ERP landscapes
  • Track record of taking complex systems through go-live and hypercare phases into stable, scalable operations
  • A strong product mindset, defining technical problems in terms of business outcomes, prioritizing ruthlessly, and leveraging data to separate what works from what truly scales
  • Calm, structured decision-making under pressure with high resilience in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with fluency in English, with German considered a plus
