Motorola Solutions’ Avigilon Alta Video brings Cloud video security systems to the next level. Alta’s cloud-based video security solution offers industry leading full AI video analytics and exceptional operational insights. The Alta Video engineering team injects intelligence into their approach to security and all their solutions. They help organisations see, understand, and act on their surroundings to protect people, business, and reputation in real-time.
We have a fantastic city center office in the heart of Edinburgh and fully embrace a hybrid home/office working model, with an aim for 2 days in the office.

Job Description

As a Full Stack Engineer based in Edinburgh, you will play a key role in advancing our "Solving for safer" mission by designing, building, and scaling cloud-native web applications and services.
You will join a collaborative engineering team where intelligent video capabilities, cloud microservices, and modern web frontends intersect. In this role, you will help to design intuitive interfaces and high-throughput APIs that empower human decision-makers at the center.
Key Responsibilities:
Front-End Architecture & User Experience
- Build responsive, high-performance web applications using modern TypeScript frameworks to deliver real-time video and analytics data in safety critical use cases
- Collaborate with product designers and engineering leads to translate complex security workflows into intuitive user interfaces
- Optimize frontend reliability, state management, and web performance across distributed client environments
Backend Microservices & Cloud Infrastructure
- Design, implement, and maintain resilient APIs and microservices
- Contribute to our evolving architecture for a highly scalable solution
- Take ownership over components and support other teams using our services
System Quality & Continuous Delivery
- Invest in automation throughout the software development lifecycle to uphold software quality
- Participate in technical design discussions, peer code reviews, and CI/CD pipeline improvements
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or technical field
- Solid experience in software development across web applications and backend services
- Legal authorisation to work in the UK
- Ability to join us in-person at our Edinburgh city centre office 2 days per week.
Technical Expertise & Experience

- Programming Skills: Strong foundational skills in at least one general-purpose programming language (such as Golang, Python, C, C++, Rust, or Java).
- Web application development using a JavaScript/TypeScript framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Software Development Background: Industry experience as a Software Engineer (full stack or otherwise).
- Cloud & Distributed Systems: Experience with cloud environments and infrastructure as code.
- Modern Tooling: Familiarity with or interest in using AI-assisted tools within a modern development workflow.
- Product Mindset: A passion for building reliable software experiences that deliver real value to end-users.
