Fractional Founding Designer

About the Role

As the first designer at an early-stage AI recruiting startup, you will shape how the product looks and feels and establish the design standards the team builds against. This fractional role offers 10 to 20 hours per week and meaningful ownership of key product experiences.

What You'll Do

• Define the product's visual and interaction design direction across its most important surfaces.

• Build and document design systems, standards, and patterns that support consistent implementation.

• Create high-fidelity mockups and prototypes, and partner with product and engineering to ship them.

• Make design decisions with limited information and refine them using user research and feedback.

• Work through technical constraints and support clear design-to-code handoff.

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of product design experience building and shipping consumer or B2B products end to end.

• Experience creating design systems, standards, and documentation for teams to use.

• Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD for mockups and prototypes.

• A portfolio showing shipped product work, problem-solving, and clear design outcomes.

• Experience collaborating directly with product and engineering teams, and iterating based on user feedback.

• Early-stage startup or fractional design experience is helpful, as is familiarity with HTML and CSS.

Location

Fully remote, with the role based in the DACH region.
