Description of Work

This position is located in Wayne County at WorkSource East Training Facility in Goldsboro, NC.

The primary purpose of this position is to prepare individuals with disabilities for employment by teaching a Food Service curriculum AND oversee all operations of the cafeteria to include providing meals for students daily.

This position maintains food and supply inventory and makes purchases for the program regularly.

Will assist in facilitating internship opportunities and development of appropriate work habits.

Identify tasks and write training objectives for the Food Service II program.

Provide training designed to improve work-related behaviors and work skills.

Coordinate with and follow all requirements and operating standards set forth by the local health department and USDA.

Incumbent needs the Serve Safe credential to operate the kitchen. Have to possess it or be willing to obtain it within 3 months of hire.

Salary Range: $39,244.00-$68,679.00

Recruitment Range: $39,244.00-$63,000.00

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred.



Knowledge of the food service industry, the job requirements, all local/state/federal standards and requirements for a kitchen/restaurant. Good communication skills, both oral and written

Good customer service skills.

Experience instructing or supervising others

Experience working with people with disabilities




Position is funded in part through federal funds.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree dietetics, food management, culinary arts, hospitality management from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of supervisory experience in the preparation and serving of food in quantity lots; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
