Food Service Assistant I – Patient Dining Services

Join ChristianaCare's Food & Nutrition Services team and help ensure patients receive accurate, high-quality meals in a safe and sanitary environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble and deliver patient meal trays accurately and efficiently.
• Read and follow meal tickets, including modified and therapeutic diets.
• Replenish food supplies and maintain trayline operations.
• Operate and clean dishwashing, pot washing, and sanitation equipment.
• Follow food safety, infection prevention, and sanitation procedures.
• Maintain clean work areas and properly handle waste disposal.
• Provide compassionate service while supporting ChristianaCare's values of Excellence and Love.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred (or currently enrolled in high school).
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and remain active throughout the shift.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced healthcare setting.
• Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, cleaning chemicals, and food service equipment.
• Must follow all safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards.

This position has a starting rate of $17.80 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.90 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.93 per hour.This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
