Role Overview:
The US Financial Reporting Lead is a senior individual contributor and the final internal reviewer of US project-company financial statements before submission to the external auditor. The role is accountable for the quality, technical accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness of the complete reporting package, including the primary financial statements, disclosures, supporting schedules, and related consolidation impacts. Although the position has no direct reports, it provides functional leadership across the Accounting, Consolidation, Tax, Finance, and other teams that contribute to the preparation of the financial statements. The role sets expectations, coordinates responsibilities and inputs, challenges the quality of deliverables, and drives issues to timely closure. This position is suited to an experienced public-accounting or financial-reporting professional with senior-level review responsibility, strong US GAAP expertise, hands-on financial-statement review experience, and the ability to lead cross-functional delivery through influence.
What you will be doing:
- Lead the end-to-end coordination and review of US project-company financial statements and disclosures, overseeing contributions from the relevant teams and providing the final internal quality assessment before submission to the external auditor
- Review balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flows, statements of equity, footnotes, and supporting schedules for technical accuracy, internal consistency, completeness, and compliance with US GAAP and and group-reporting requirements
- Challenge trial-balance data, account mappings, consolidation adjustments, cash-flow classifications, disclosure support, and unusual or judgmental transactions, ensuring that identified issues are clearly documented and resolved
- Act as the principal financial-reporting contact for the external auditor and provide functional leadership to the internal teams contributing to the reporting package, coordinating responsibilities, inputs, dependencies, responses to review comments, and audit requests through final clearance
- Evaluate complex accounting and reporting topics, including tax-advantaged partnership structures, consolidation matters, equity-accounted interests, impairment indicators, asset transactions, and other non-routine events
- Review account analyses, roll-forwards, reconciliations, and audit-support schedules prepared by Accounting and Finance teams, identifying gaps and improving the quality of supporting evidence
- Partner with the accounting and consolidation teams to ensure appropriate account mapping, eliminations, classification, presentation, and consistency among local records and the financial statements
- Apply professional judgment to assess materiality, presentation, disclosure sufficiency, and the impact of proposed adjustments or late changes
- Establish and maintain review standards, templates, checklists, responsibilities, and governance routines that strengthen accountability, consistency, efficiency, and audit readiness across the US financial-statement portfolio
- Provide functional direction and technically grounded feedback to preparers and reviewers across multiple teams, aligning contributors on expectations, priorities, quality standards, and required corrective actions
- Manage deliverables, dependencies, and unresolved matters across multiple teams and reporting workstreams, following up on commitments, escalating risks, and proposing practical solutions to protect submission deadlines
- Support broader financial-reporting, consolidation, internal-control, and continuous-improvement initiatives as required
Direct reports: None. This is a senior individual-contributor role with significant technical leadership and functional responsibility for coordinating the teams that contribute to the preparation and review of the US financial statements.
