Fabric / Power BI Analytics Consultant

On-site London, United Kingdom contractor

Who You'll Be Working With

You will join Capgemini's AI and Analytics team within the Insights and Data Global Business Unit. You will work with visualisation specialists, data engineers, data scientists, business analysts and solution architects to solve client problems using modern data and analytics services.

Role purpose

Build high-quality analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, translating business needs into trusted data models, reports and insights. Work as part of a client delivery team, with support from senior consultants and architects.

PLEASE NOTE:

Security clearance: To be successfully appointed, you must be eligible to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance. This normally requires continuous UK residency for the previous five years, alongside other criteria. Some assignments may be restricted to sole UK nationals for security reasons.

The Focus Of Your Role

This is a hands-on consulting role for someone developing their career across Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. You will help clients turn data into clear, accessible and actionable insight. You will contribute to the design, build, test and deployment of analytics solutions, while learning how enterprise security, governance and delivery standards are applied in practice.

The role is broader than report development alone. Depending on the engagement, you may work across:

  • Microsoft Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models and apps
  • Microsoft Fabric lakehouses, warehouses, data pipelines and dataflows
  • DAX, Power Query and dimensional data modelling
  • Data quality, security, governance and deployment controls
  • Requirements discovery, prototyping, testing and user adoption
  • Monitoring, support, troubleshooting and continuous improvement

Key responsibilities

  • Work with client stakeholders and delivery colleagues to understand business questions, user needs, data sources and acceptance criteria.
  • Build and enhance Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models and KPI scorecards using appropriate visualisation and accessibility practices.
  • Develop data preparation and transformation logic using Power Query, Dataflows Gen2, SQL and, where appropriate, Fabric pipelines or notebooks.
  • Create clear, maintainable DAX measures and dimensional models that support accurate and performant analysis.
  • Contribute to the configuration and use of Fabric workspaces, deployment pipelines, source control and release processes.
  • Apply agreed security controls, including workspace and app access, row-level security and sensitivity or endorsement settings.
  • Test solutions, investigate defects and performance issues, and produce concise technical and user documentation.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, estimation, peer reviews, demonstrations and knowledge sharing.
  • Support proposals, demonstrations, accelerators and reusable assets for the wider AI & Analytics practice.
  • Develop your consulting capability by communicating clearly, managing commitments and seeking feedback from clients and colleagues.

What You'll Bring

You will combine practical analytics skills with curiosity, structured problem-solving and an interest in helping clients make better decisions. You do not need to be an solutions architect, but you should understand how your work fits within a governed data and analytics solution.

Essential skills and experience

  • Hands-on experience building Power BI reports and dashboards for business users.
  • Working knowledge of DAX, Power Query and data modelling, including facts, dimensions and relationships.
  • Experience connecting to, preparing and validating data from common sources such as SQL databases, files, APIs or cloud platforms.
  • Understanding of Power BI Service concepts, including workspaces, apps, refresh, gateways, permissions and deployment.
  • Awareness and experience of Microsoft Fabric capabilities such as OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory and semantic models, with practical exposure to at least one area.
  • Ability to translate requirements into user stories, prototypes or working analytics outputs.
  • Good analytical, written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work collaboratively in a client-facing team.
  • Commitment to inclusive design, accessibility, data quality and secure handling of client information.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience with SQL, Azure data services, Databricks, Microsoft Purview, Power Platform or other cloud data platforms.
  • Exposure to version control and CI/CD using Git, Azure DevOps or Fabric deployment pipelines.
  • Awareness of capacity, licensing, performance optimisation and governance considerations in Power BI or Fabric.
  • Experience working in agile delivery and producing documentation, test evidence or training materials.
  • A relevant Microsoft certification, or willingness to work towards one, such as PL-300 or DP-600.

Development and progression

This Grade B role is expected to deliver defined work packages with appropriate guidance, progressively taking greater ownership as experience grows. You will have access to learning, certification and coaching, with opportunities to develop towards senior consultant, analytics lead or solution architecture pathways.

Additional Info

Hybrid working:

Your working location will vary according to the role, client needs and business requirements, with a blend of Capgemini offices, client sites and home working. The role is not expected to be home-based 100% of the time.

Pre-employment checks: Checks may include identity, nationality or immigration status, three years of employment history and an unspent criminal record check through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
