Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Engineer II for our Hot Section Engineering (HSE) Support to Operations (ESTO) team for Turbine Airfoils in East Hartford, CT. In this role, you will support the design and production of military and commercial turbine airfoils, with a focus on production support, quality improvement, corrective actions, engineering changes, and producibility. Also, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve production challenges and ensure high-quality turbine airfoil hardware.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with operations, quality, procurement, and engineering SMEs to conduct root-cause investigations, resolve Quality Notifications (QN)/Stop Delivery Orders (SDO)/Fleet Podding Notifications(FPN), and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Develop Class II engineering change packages using Pro-Cert and data-driven decision-making to improve quality, cost, and producibility.
  • Support Cost of Poor Quality, waste reduction, defect assessment, and production improvement initiatives while establishing measurable process improvements.
  • Coordinate supplier support activities, including eSRI responses and timely closure of supplier inquiries and engineering investigations.
  • Present technical recommendations and status updates to management while supporting multidisciplinary teams and progressing toward Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) Delegate Approver authority for applicable turbine airfoil hardware.

 

Travel Requirement: Approximately 25% – Travel to support production and supplier activities, both domestically and internationally, with the majority of travel being domestic.

 

What You Will Learn:

  • Military and commercial turbine airfoil design, manufacturing, and production support.
  • Root-cause analysis, QN resolution, SDO/FPN investigations, and corrective action processes.
  • Class II engineering changes, Pro-Cert methodology, risk-based decision-making, and defect assessment.
  • Supplier engagement, eSRI processes, and cross-functional production improvement.
  • CIPT processes, turbine airfoil part families, and progression toward Delegate Approver responsibilities.

 

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or in a related field with 2 years of relevant engineering experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field.  Relevant experience applying engineering problem-solving and data-driven methods to production or technical issues.

 

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Aerospace industry experience, particularly in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience with production improvement initiatives, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Strong technical communication and ability to build effective cross-functional relationships.
  • Working knowledge of engineering tools, methodologies, and processes supporting design and production activities.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office, Teamcenter, SAP, and Unigraphics/NX.

Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO): ESTO provides dedicated support by eliminating quality notifications, escapes, works stops and enabling producibility and delivery of legacy and new parts, assemblies, modules, and engines. ESTO covers all engine programs and part families, enabling engine deliveries, first piece reviews, first article inspections, analysis automation, process certification. ESTO also supports the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) initiative in Operations. Technical disciplines in ESTO include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, and Manufacturing Engineering.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
