The Opportunity

Cochlear has an opportunity for a full-time Compliance Manager based in either our Sydney, Australia office or at Weybridge, UK. In this role, the Compliance Officer will support the design, implementation, operationalization and continuous improvement of Cochlear's global ethics and compliance program. Working across multiple regions and business functions, you will provide practical compliance advice, identify and manage compliance risks, support governance activities, and contribute to fostering a strong culture of integrity across the organisation.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing practical and commercially focused compliance advice to business leaders and employees globally.
  • Supporting compliance risk assessments and enterprise risk management activities.
  • Identifying, assessing and managing compliance risks arising from business activities and regulatory developments.
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing compliance policies, standards and procedures.
  • Conducting compliance monitoring activities and supporting investigations, corrective actions and remediation initiatives.
  • Delivering compliance training, awareness programs and governance reporting activities.

About You. As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

 

Essential:

  • 5-10 years' experience in compliance, legal, risk, audit, governance or a related discipline.
  • Qualifications in law, compliance, risk management, governance, business, accounting, or a related discipline.

  • Experience within a highly regulated industry, ideally medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare
  • Experience supporting compliance risk areas such as anti-bribery and corruption, competition and antitrust, conflicts of interest, healthcare professional interactions, transparency reporting, sanctions or trade controls.
  • Strong understanding of compliance risk management and enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Experience working within complex multinational organisations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, investigation and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex legal and regulatory concepts in a practical and business-focused manner.
  • Experience working across diverse cultures and geographic regions.

Ideal:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB/JD) or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Professional certifications such as CCEP, ICA, governance or risk management qualifications.
  • Experience supporting healthcare compliance programs and interactions with healthcare professionals and healthcare organisations.
  • Experience managing third-party due diligence and compliance monitoring activities.
  • Experience supporting investigations, compliance reporting and program enhancement initiatives.
