The Role

Infrastructure Architects are the key link between Kyndryl and our clients. You’re in a technical leadership role, uniting and guiding stakeholders from clients, governance, and project executives to delivery and sometimes even the vendors who work with the client. You’ll be there from the start of a project — understanding what’s needed and figuring out the best technical solution. And you’ll be there at the finish, delivering the right product on time and within budget.

As an Infrastructure Architect, you’ll draw upon the full breadth of your talent and experience. This is a technical leadership role, so we want you to bring your vision, knowledge, and leadership to each project. To the client, you’re the subject matter expert – consulting early, gathering inputs, understanding what they need from our solution. You define what Kyndryl can do to meet this solution. You design the best solution for the job. And finally, you’re the tech leader for implementation.

Responsibilities:

AWS Architecture (Primary)

• Provide architectural guidance and governance for AWS environments.
• Design and review AWS solutions covering networking, security, compute, storage, and container platforms.
• Support hybrid and multi-cloud architectures spanning GCP and AWS.
• Define AWS operational and security standards aligned with enterprise requirements. 

Cloud Architecture & Strategy (Secondary)

• Define and implement enterprise-scale GCP cloud architecture, landing zones, governance, and security frameworks.
• Design highly available, scalable, and cost-optimised cloud solutions aligned to business and application requirements.
• Establish cloud architecture standards, reference architectures, and best practices.
• Lead cloud transformation, modernization, and migration initiatives to GCP.
• Conduct architecture reviews, technology assessments, and workload placement recommendations.

Kubernetes & Container Platform Architecture

• Architect and govern container platforms including:
  • Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
  • Amazon EKS
  • AWS EKS Anywhere
• Define cluster architecture, networking, security, observability, scalability, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Establish Kubernetes platform standards, security guardrails, and operational models.
• Guide engineering teams on containerisation, microservices, and cloud-native adoption.

DevOps & Automation

• Define and implement enterprise DevOps and GitOps strategies.
• Architect CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, and related tools.
• Champion Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and platform automation.
• Drive DevSecOps adoption, policy-as-code, security automation, and compliance enforcement.
• Enable automated deployment, monitoring, remediation, and operational excellence practices.

Security, Governance & Compliance

• Design cloud security architecture, IAM models, network security controls, and compliance frameworks.
• Establish governance using AWS Config, Audit Manager, GCP Security Command Center, and policy controls.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards and regulatory requirements.
• Review and approve cloud solution designs from a security and governance perspective

• Primary: AWS Administration, AWS Architecture, Amazon EKS, EKS Anywhere
• Secondary: GCP, GKE, Cloud Architecture, Terraform, Cloud Security
• Kubernetes & Container Platforms
• DevOps / GitOps / DevSecOps
• Terraform, Python, Bash, PowerShell
• CI/CD Tools (Cloud Build, CodePipeline, GitHub Actions)
• Cloud Networking, IAM, Security & Compliance
• SRE and Observability Practices

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• DevSecOps & CI/CD Leadership: Experience leading DevSecOps/SRE projects, setting up GitOps workflows, and designing robust CI/CD pipelines integrating tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo, and ELK.
• Infrastructure Automation (IaC): Deep expertise in delivering immutable infrastructure-as-code and automating platform deployments using Terraform, CloudFormation, Anthos Config Management, and GCVE.
• Customer Consulting & Migration: Track record of leading technical workshops with enterprise clients to architect advanced AWS solutions and design migration strategies from data centers to the cloud.
• Architecture Review & Optimization: Proven ability to perform periodic architecture reviews to enhance application performance, drive cost optimization, and thoroughly document technical frameworks.
• Internal Tooling & Scale: Collaborative skills in building utility tools and scripts (such as Chef cookbooks) that enable engineering teams to operate safely at high speed and wide scale.
