C&S Product Owner

On-site Bengaluru, India

Are you passionate about harnessing the power of data, AI, and analytics to shape the future of underwriting? Do you thrive in collaborative environments where your insights drive real business impact? If you're ready to bring your expertise in data science and portfolio management to a global stage, we'd love to hear from you. Join our Actuarial Portfolio Management, Credit and Surety team at Swiss Re and be part of something truly transformative.

About the Role

In this role, you will be at the heart of analysing and steering the Credit and Surety portfolio, leveraging advanced internal and external data to drive both risk and profitability outcomes. You will work at the intersection of data science, actuarial thinking, and business strategy — collaborating with underwriting, finance, operations, claims, risk management, and actuarial teams across Swiss Re.

This is a rare opportunity to apply cutting-edge data science to real-world portfolios, connect macroeconomic trends to market performance, and bridge the gap between insurance and banking through credit portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate business needs into solutions by working closely with stakeholders to understand problem statements and business context, converting them into well-defined analytical requirements
  • Build and deploy analytics solutions for the Credit and Surety line of business, contributing to portfolio steering and monitoring in alignment with strategic objectives
  • Drive data-driven transformation by collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance risk management and underwriting efficiency
  • Design and maintain large-scale data pipelines using PySpark and Python, ensuring robust, optimised, and scalable data transformation processes
  • Develop interactive dashboards and visualisations that deliver strategic insights to business stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making
  • Lead project delivery and provide guidance to junior colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence
  • Investigate portfolio patterns and trends, connecting economic indicators to performance outcomes to support long-term profitability

About the Team

We are a friendly, collaborative, and client-focused team within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. The Actuarial Portfolio Management Credit and Surety (APM C&S) team reports directly to the Head of Underwriting Excellence and partners with portfolio owners to provide a robust framework for portfolio steering and strategic insights.

We are passionate about data-driven outcomes and constantly explore new ways to tackle complex challenges through quantitative models and data transformation. Our team brings together diverse expertise — from data science and actuarial science to credit and risk management — creating an environment where curiosity, innovation, and collaboration thrive. Whether you're solving a complex modelling problem or presenting insights to senior leadership, you'll always have the support of a team that genuinely cares about each other's success and the impact we create together.

About You

You are a curious, driven, and collaborative professional who thrives on turning complex data into meaningful business insights. You bring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across disciplines and cultures. You are organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Your ability to blend quantitative rigour with clear communication — through compelling visualisations and presentations — sets you apart.

We Are Looking for Candidates Who Meet These Requirements:

  • 5+ years of analytical experience with hands-on expertise in PySpark and Python, particularly in building and optimising large-scale data transformation pipelines
  • 3+ years of SQL experience, with the ability to write and optimise complex queries confidently
  • Extensive experience in data visualisation and developing interactive dashboards tailored to business stakeholders, with a focus on delivering strategic insights
  • Proven track record of applying analytical skills to real business data to develop actionable insights and practical solutions
  • Solid academic background (university degree or higher) in Data Science, IT, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, or an equivalent field

These Are Additional Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with Palantir Foundry or other big data platforms
  • Background in credit quantitative models, credit portfolio management, or risk management in banking or insurance
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes
  • Knowledge of credit aggregation, global macroeconomics, financial markets, and credit-related products; experience in Trade Finance and Surety sectors is a plus
  • Experience leading project delivery and mentoring junior colleagues
  • Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and drive business impact through data-driven strategies

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
