Business Systems Analyst (Independent Contractor - 6 months duration)

This is a project-based engagement best suited to an experienced 1099 independent contractor who's comfortable moving fast in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.

You'll be working within the client's business systems group, helping to guide the implementation phase of a newly standardized enterprise process and its associated technology solutions. You'll work closely with client-side stakeholders as well as the CompassX project management team, so clear communication and the ability to translate technical execution into business context matters as much as the analysis itself. You'll collaborate closely with business sponsors and technical developers, so the ability to work autonomously while staying tightly aligned with the team is essential.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with project managers and key business stakeholders to elicit, define, and document detailed business and system requirements.
• Translate high-level business rules and process definitions into functional specifications, data mapping requirements, and technical user stories.
• Support the rollout, testing, and implementation of a standardized global process and associated systems set to launch in 2027.
• Develop comprehensive process maps, user stories, and workflow diagrams to ensure technology solutions align with defined business needs.
• Act as the primary liaison bridging the gap between business objectives, functional users, and technical execution teams (or third-party vendors).
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups) to keep project deliverables on track and priorities aligned.
• Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including writing test cases, tracking defects, and coordinating with business users for sign-off.
• Identify potential project risks, scope creep, or system limitations, and proactively propose mitigation strategies to project leadership.
• Assist in the creation of training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user manuals to support change management and post-deployment adoption.

What You'll Bring

• Proven hands-on experience as a Business Systems Analyst, preferably within the healthcare, medical device, or life sciences industries.
• Deep expertise in process mapping, requirements gathering, and complex system implementations.
• Proficiency with requirements management, ticketing, and documentation tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio, Lucidchart).
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience with data mapping, system integrations, and a working understanding of how systems communicate (APIs, middleware, etc.).
• Familiarity with regulatory or compliance-driven environments (e.g., FDA, HIPAA, or Sunshine Act) is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business objectives for non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity in a matrixed enterprise environment.
• Ability to onboard quickly, build cross-functional relationships, and operate independently in a fast-paced project environment.
