Summary:

We are looking for a Technical Publication Engineer to manage, validate, develop, and publish technical documentation for global software products.

The role covers the end-to-end publication lifecycle, including source-file management, localization readiness, documentation development, technical QA, defect resolution, and publishing. The ideal candidate should have experience with structured documentation, XML/Markdown, version control, localization workflows, and documentation QA.

The role involves close collaboration with technical writers, localization teams, project managers, and client stakeholders to deliver accurate, consistent, and publication-ready content.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Documentation & Source Management

• Retrieve, validate, and manage the correct and latest source files, assets, and documentation versions.
• Analyse source content to determine translation/localization scope and prepare files for localization.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation using XML, Markdown, HTML, JSON, and other formats.
• Validate document structure, metadata, links, references, and content integrity.
• Manage version-controlled and single-source documentation and generate multiple publication outputs.

Localization & Quality Assurance

• Validate source and translated files for structure, content, formatting, functionality, and localization readiness.
• Perform technical, functional, and visual QA of documentation and published outputs.
• Identify and resolve issues related to content, formatting, links, XML/Markdown, metadata, images, fonts, encoding, and rendering.
• Compare source and localized content and track defects through appropriate systems.
• Coordinate defect resolution and ensure issues are addressed before final publication.

Publishing

• Configure and execute documentation publishing workflows.
• Generate outputs such as online help, PDF, Word, CHM, HTML, and ZIP packages.
• Troubleshoot build, transformation, publishing, and rendering issues.
• Rebuild and republish documentation following corrections.
• Ensure final outputs meet project and customer requirements.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

• Work closely with documentation, localization, project management, and client teams.
• Provide timely project updates and proactively communicate risks, issues, and dependencies.
• Manage multiple requests while meeting quality and delivery timelines.
• Identify process improvements that increase efficiency, quality, and reduce production risks.
• Maintain work instructions, SOPs, and project documentation.
• Demonstrate ownership, accountability, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of technical documentation and publishing processes.

• Experience with document QA, defect tracking, and issue resolution.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• 1–2 years of experience in Technical Publications, Technical Writing, Documentation Engineering, Documentation QA, Localization Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with XML, Markdown, or structured documentation formats.
• Familiarity with publishing, content management, localization, version control, and defect tracking tools.
• Familiarity with Adobe and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience in a multi-author or enterprise documentation environment is an advantage.

• Prepare translation materials by converting the files for translation and restoring original files after translation
• Extract strings for translation from materials such as graphics and embed translated strings back to the materials
• Participate in the improvement of the engineering process
• Communicate with the Team Lead for status reports and issues in the team. Reporting should be accurate, proactive, and on a timely basis
• Good organization, prioritization, and time management skills
