Associate Manager, Audit Operations & Reporting

On-site Toronto, Canada full time

Join Manulife’s Audit and Advisory Services Professional Practices team in a high-impact role responsible for executive, Board, and Audit Committee reporting and for strengthening the operating processes that support timely, consistent, and insightful reporting across the Audit function.

The role combines executive reporting, stakeholder coordination, risk insight development, and process improvement. The successful candidate will work directly with senior leaders and risk teams, coordinate inputs across lines of defense, and help bring together information from multiple enterprise sources to produce clear and decision-useful reporting.

Position Responsibilities:

Audit Committee, Board and Executive Reporting

  • Lead the preparation and coordination of Audit Committee, Board, Executive Leadership Team, Audit Leadership Team, and other executive reporting materials.
  • Develop clear, concise, and impactful presentations, briefing notes, speaking notes, and executive summaries.
  • Translate complex audit, risk, issue, and performance information into coherent narratives and actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, consistent, appropriately supported, and aligned across governance forums.
  • Coordinate review, challenge, approval, and production processes with senior stakeholders across the organization.

Risk Insights and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify emerging themes, common control weaknesses, and risk insights across audit results to strengthen executive reporting and decision support.
  • Engage directly with executives, governance committees, and internal stakeholders to clarify messages, resolve gaps, and align reporting.

Reporting Operations and Data Coordination

  • Own end-to-end reporting routines, calendars, templates, inputs, quality reviews, action tracking, and delivery milestones.
  • Bring together information from Enterprise GRC and other relevant enterprise sources to support efficient preparation of initial report drafts.
  • Partner with data owners and contributors to improve data quality, reporting consistency, and traceability to source information.
  • Maintain effective controls over version management, review status, approvals, and final reporting packages.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, streamline handoffs, and improve the speed and repeatability of report production.

Automation and Continuous Improvement

  • Define business requirements, templates, workflow expectations, and quality criteria for reporting enhancements.
  • Test automation solutions built and improve usability and adoption.
  • Develop guidance and working practices that support consistent, sustainable reporting processes across the Audit function.
  • Coordinate special projects that improve governance, operational effectiveness, and management information.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in internal audit, risk management, governance, executive reporting, consulting, financial services, or a related field.
  • Strong experience preparing executive-level materials for senior leadership and Board-level audiences.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex audit and risk information into concise, decision-useful messages.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, project management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven ability to manage high-sensitivity, judgment-intensive work and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working directly with senior executives, governance committees, risk teams, and data owners.
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to use generative AI responsibly to improve efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Audit Committee, Board, Executive Leadership Team, Audit Leadership Team, or comparable executive governance forums.
  • Knowledge of internal audit methodologies, enterprise risk management frameworks, quality assurance programs, and issue reporting.
  • Experience working with Governance, Risk and Compliance platforms, reporting automation, workflow tools, or data visualization solutions.
  • Understanding of the life insurance, wealth and asset management, or broader financial services industry.
  • Professional designation such as MBA, CPA, CIA, CFA, FRM, or an equivalent credential is an asset.

Salary range is expected to be between

$73,725.00 CAD - $122,875.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
