Assembly Technician
About Eyebot
Eyebot builds self-guided vision test kiosks. A person walks up, takes a short vision test, and a licensed eye doctor reviews the results before a glasses prescription is issued. No appointment needed. We're based at the Schrafft's Center in Charlestown, backed by top investors and the National Science Foundation. Every kiosk goes through final assembly and calibration at our Charlestown production floor before it ships.
About the Role
We're hiring an Assembly Technician for our Charlestown production floor. You'll take each kiosk through final assembly and calibration. That means fastening the steel cabinet together, installing the electronics and optics, running the tests, and crating it up for shipment. You'll work from photo step-by-step work instructions alongside our technicians and engineers, and you'll report to the line supervisor, who runs the floor day to day.
What You'll Do
You'll be the person who turns a pallet of parts into a finished kiosk that helps people see clearly. The work is a mix, roughly an even split over a week. Part of it is teamwork out on the floor: uncrating and re-crating 300 lb kiosks, standing each one up in pairs, and moving them around the floor on a manual pallet jack. The rest is precision bench work: wiring, mounting boards, and fitting small hardware at a station where you can sit or stand. Every kiosk that ships has been built, tested, and signed off by your hands. Day to day, you'll:
Move kiosks between receiving, the build area, calibration, and shipping on a manual pallet jack. Every kiosk rides on a pallet from the day it arrives until it leaves, so this is a big part of keeping the line moving.
Fasten steel panels, doors, and brackets to spec with electric and click-type torque drivers, hex and Torx bits, and rivet tools.
Mount circuit boards, computers, routers, and power supplies, route and connect cables, and handle boards at an ESD station.
Build small optical subassemblies at the bench: mirrors, filters, and camera modules handled with gloves and tweezers.
Run calibrations and function tests on finished kiosks using our calibration cart and test software. Then take the vision test yourself, the way a customer would, as part of testing every kiosk.
Inspect finished assemblies and flag anything that looks off to the line supervisor.
Keep your station and the floor clean and organized.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Experience assembling or servicing electromechanical equipment: ATMs, vending or self-service kiosks, slot machines, medical devices, lab instruments, copiers, appliances, server racks, or similar. Titles vary by industry: electromechanical assembler, field service technician, kiosk technician, equipment installer.
Comfortable with drills, torque drivers, hex and Torx bits, rivet tools, and small metric fasteners.
Able to follow photo step-by-step work instructions exactly, including torque specs, and to say so when a step doesn't match what's in front of you.
Basic computer skills: plug in a cable, launch a program, follow on-screen prompts. No programming.
Able to lift 50 lb, help a partner tilt a large kiosk upright (tipping it, not lifting it), and spend long stretches on your feet.

Machining or fabrication background.
PCA soldering experience.
Pallet jack or forklift certification.
