AI Automation and Integration Engineer
This role is open to candidates based in LATAM, Africa, and Eastern Europe. Please note that as this role supports U.S.-based clients, candidates must be available to work during U.S. business hours aligned with the client’s time zone.
Our client operates a large verified healthcare professional community spanning approximately 150 countries and provides real-time research and data products for pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device clients.
Role Overview
The AI Automation and Integration Engineer, Finance and Revenue Operations will embed with Finance and Revenue Operations teams to redesign core finance processes around AI-powered agents, automation, and integrations.
This is a discovery-led, hands-on engineering role responsible for identifying and prioritizing high-impact opportunities, determining the appropriate build, buy, or configure approach, and owning the design and implementation of solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Finance Process Discovery & Prioritization
Map Finance and Revenue Operations processes, systems, dependencies, and existing automation.
Establish measurable baselines for current workflows.
Rank automation opportunities based on impact, complexity, data availability, and risk.
Prioritize the month-end close before expanding into additional finance workflows.
Evaluate build, buy, and configure options, focusing custom AI development where it provides the greatest value.
Record to Report & Month-End Close
Build and improve workflows supporting close management and journal entry creation and validation.
Support automation across revenue recognition, cost of sales, commission calculations, accruals, provisions, and prepayments.
Develop workflows for balance sheet, bank, and intercompany reconciliations.
Support variance analysis, VAT, and audit preparation.
Develop early pilots around balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry validation, close calculations, and variance analysis with commentary.
Procure to Pay
Build workflows supporting invoice capture and validation.
Automate 3-way matching, duplicate detection, vendor master validation, and GL coding.
Support payment proposal checks and supplier email workflows.
Improve incentive payment queries and reconciliation processes.
Order to Cash
Support contract-based billing checks and invoice validation.
Build workflows for cash application, collections, disputes, credit, and DSO monitoring.
Support customer email workflows with automatic action summaries.
Reporting, FP&A, Treasury & Expenses
Automate recurring board and management reporting.
Support forecast variance analysis.
Build workflows around cash position and cash flow forecasting.
Support expense claim validation and policy checks.
AI Automation & Integration Engineering
Build AI agents, workflows, and integrations across ERP systems, planning tools, and data platforms.
Develop reusable components for recurring finance patterns, including matching and reconciliation, rules-based calculations, anomaly and duplicate detection, validation, variance commentary, and inbox handling.
Apply deterministic code to calculations and matching while using AI models for extraction, classification, exception triage, and commentary.
Integrate APIs, ERPs, finance platforms, and data warehouses.
Controls, Auditability & Governance
Design approval workflows, role-based access, segregation of duties, exception handling, and audit trails into finance automation.
Ensure workflows provide the evidence, reproducibility, and change control required for external audits.
Support secure handling of financial and employee data.
Maintain clear operational controls as automation expands.
Existing Automation & Implementation Partner Coordination
Take ownership of workflows delivered by an implementation partner.
Support, monitor, document, and extend existing automated workflows.
Coordinate in-flight implementation work to avoid duplication.
Work with the implementation partner alongside Finance, Revenue Operations, Data, and Engineering teams.
Measurement & Documentation
Measure automation results against established finance KPIs.
Track metrics such as days to close, percentage of reconciliations auto-prepared, cash application match rates, touchless invoice rates, DSO, and forecast accuracy.
Document system architecture, controls, workflows, and operating procedures.
Maintain a prioritized roadmap for future automation initiatives.
Qualifications
Experience
5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years shipping AI-powered workflows, agents, or integrations in production.
Experience completing an agent-first redesign of a real business workflow, from establishing the baseline through measuring the final result.
Experience integrating APIs, ERPs, finance platforms, and data warehouses.
Experience translating ambiguous processes from non-technical teams into practical technical solutions.
Experience working independently from directional guidance and influencing stakeholders without direct management authority.
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Skills
Strong Python and SQL skills, along with experience in at least one typed programming language.
Working understanding of double-entry accounting, accruals, reconciliations, month-end close, and segregation of duties.
Ability to determine where deterministic code versus AI models should be applied within finance workflows.
Ability to design production workflows with approvals, role-based access, segregation of duties, exception handling, and audit trails.
Ability to build reusable automation components for matching, reconciliation, calculations, anomaly detection, duplicate detection, validation, variance commentary, and inbox handling.
Ability to establish measurable baselines and evaluate automation against finance-specific KPIs.
Ability to document technical architecture, controls, and operating procedures.
Preferred Experience
Cloud ERP platforms such as SAP Business ByDesign.
Multi-entity and multi-currency finance environments.
Document AI, including OCR and invoice extraction.
Fuzzy matching, anomaly detection, or fraud detection.
Revenue recognition, commission and variable pay, VAT, or board and management reporting.
Taking ownership of systems originally built by an implementation partner.
Zapier or similar automation platforms.
AI governance, access control, GDPR, and secure handling of financial and employee data.
